Champagne / Rob autore dei testi e della musica.

"While they dance along, you stake all in a single chance?”
Champagne,
fully intend to give their souls to music and reach out to as many
people as possible armed with outstanding attitude, good, clearcut
melodies and beautiful instrumental arrangements. The music style is
modern with a touch of the sixties, reminiscent of the bands they
idolise such as various pop bands from now and the Beatles from then,
although aiming to drive the aspect of looking ahead instead of
contemplating the past. Joakim (guitar) and Rob (keyboards/guitar) met
for the first time during Autumn 2003 in one of the many hectic clubs
in Stockholm City. Cold days passed by whilst jamming, dreaming of
being the best band in the world and composing music that later on
would land them an acoustic gig at the local pub, Tre backar. Champagne
had by that point only just recruited their singer George and spent an
all-nighter in Rob’s living room rehearsing to get a repertoire to fit
the occasion. The Gig had good response and at this early point the
three felt this was something to build on. As the music scene in
Stockholm is quite small the band wanted to try out a different scene.
London, with its various bars and clubs, would suit their music style
and ambition, so Champagne took off on a short, intensive journey to
chase their London debut. Although they invaded the London music scene
without a well-recorded demo or any material to show up front, the band
managed to get a slot at the renown 12 Bar Club in Denmark Street,
where the manager Andy Lowe gave them the opportunity they had been
looking for. The crowd at the 12 Bar Club responded well to Champagne,
gave them excellent feedback and Andy Lowe promptly invited them back
to the stage the following night. The music at that point was raw
and crude, only two guitars and song, but the melodies were already
speaking for themselves introducing a melancholic acoustic sound which
would later develop into what will be known as Champagne. Champagne
returned back to Sweden, focused on writing new material and playing
small hazy bars, until the need to record their first proper demo
became a necessity. The opportunity arose when the band performed at
the Restaurant Day Festival in Stockholm June 2005 when by chance
Johnny Olsson saw them and booked them in at Play Yard Studios. The
sessions resulted in a two-track demo that received good response from
both studio people involved in the production to various people on
music Internet Forums such as jamma.se, voolife.se and myspace. Instead
of sending the demo to major record companies, at the time being the
band focused on completing the band line-up with another guitar, bass
guitar and drums. The mission to find musicians was time consuming,
but the hard work paid off as Champagne extended the band to include
Daniel (guitar), Tommy (bass) and Hampus (drums). And finally, through
a channel of connections the demo found its way to the Italian label
'AVE IT music who decided to cut a deal with Champagne.
Champagne
consists of: Rob (guitar, keyboards), Joakim
(guitar) and George (vocals). Rob began playing guitar at age
eleven. He also played bass guitar in a metal band Eternal Funeral
signed by Alkaid Records 1996-2000. He obtained a Degree in
composition and conducting from Kulturama and continued to study
composition and conducting with Per Andersberg and Christoffer Älgh. Joakim began playing guitar at age fifteen and
played bass guitar in various bands during high school. He studied
Media and Communications at the University of Stockholm. George started
out as a chorister at age fourteen and quickly became the first
soloist. He developed an interest in musicals and at the age of 18 he
played the lead role in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar both in
Stockholm and New York (amateur-cast). George contemplated the offer of
being a member of a boyband based on Irland, but felt that he could not
commit fully at the time.
